About Us

Apostle Craig Young received a mandate from the Lord to journey to another part of the vineyard and start a new ministry.

Sensing the leading and the timing of the Lord, Apostle Craig Young traveled to Virginia Beach, Virginia. He convened at Sister Crystal Johnson's home with Elder Abbie Roberson, Evangelist Sylvia Hick and Mother E.M. Woodard in attendance. After sharing his heart and vision, he then received commitments toward serving in the ministry, thus, the Exousia International Christian Center was birthed. Mother E.M. Woodard sowed the first seed of $100.00 to open our checking account. Exousia International Christian Center was incorporated on July 15, 2004 and we received our 501(3)C during the month of January 2005.

The first worship service was held on Friday, June 18, 2004, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Bonney Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Friday night service was evangelistic in nature and was supported by a former fellowship church, Redeeming Life Christian Center. Through these services, the Lord blessed Exousia with many deliverances, healings, and salvation. Consequently, after seeking the Lord, Apostle opened up the ministry for membership on August 13, 2004, and twelve (12) people committed to covenant.

We held our first Sunday service on November 7, 2004. It was after that time that the Lord began to instruct us to look for a building for permanent worship. We located a 7-11 Store that had been vacant for ten years. We met with the owner, and were presented with the offer to lease the building for $2500.00 a month, with a down payment of $5,000 and an option to buy. By the favor of God we offered the owner $2,000.00 a month for the first year and that was accepted.

We immediately began to seek an architect to develop a plan design for the building. God gave us favor through Pastor Roger Cheeks, who referred us to his brother a Christian architect; he drew the plans according to City code and charged a nominal fee. On December 8, 2004, we met with the Planning Board for approval to use the facility. We received an overwhelming approval with an eleven to one (11-1) vote. The plan was approved with little opposition from the community.

On January 9, 2005, we moved our services from the Crowne Plaza Hotel to the Holiday Inn Executive Center. The final stage of the approval process took place on January 22, 2005. We went before the City Council of Virginia Beach and were granted a conditional use permit to use the building as a church, with an approval of a nine to two vote. Much appreciation and thanks to Dr. Robert Dyer, who is a councilman for the City of Virginia Beach, and a born again Christian.

Thanks be unto God, who with much prayer and favor, Exousia International Christian Center construction began on March 1, 2005. We were blessed with sheetrock, ceiling tiles, paint for the entire building, chairs and pulpit furniture.

Despite the many challenges, opposition, and setbacks we have faced, with great anticipation and joy we looked forward to our first day of service in our new building, which took place on September 18, 2005. The Lord is adding to the church. Presently the church body consists of 80 members.

We thank, appreciate and celebrate every member, every individual, and covenant partner who has sown into this great vision, and is yet sowing.
